Thou Shall Not Have Fun An Edge Social Night About This Night This Edge Night begins with a Gather game where the youth will be given silly commands that they must follow. The Proclaim teaches the youth, briefly, about the importance of boundaries and how the Ten Commandments actually give us more freedom. During the Break the youth play a game with no rules, discuss why it is important to have rules, and then come back to play a game with rules given by the 8th grade youth. The Send gives the youth a chance to live freely with a fun freeze dance party. The Edge Night ends with a game to inspire the youth to find freedom in Christ, a challenge to continue to come to Edge to learn how to find true freedom, and a group prayer. Goal of This Night The goal of this Edge Night is for the youth to build greater community among one another while learning the basic idea that the Ten Commandments are not a set of rules to inhibit our freedom but rather a way for us to learn how to live lives of greater freedom. Catechism # 1733 Scripture 2 Corinthians 3:17 Key Concepts – God gives us boundaries and guidelines in our lives, not to keep us from having fun, but to keep us safe, healthy, and happy. – The Ten Commandments act as a boundary that keep us safe. – God’s rules are not there to ruin all the fun but rather to protect us so we can live freely.
