Shedding Masks

Retreat Session Two on False Masks

Summary

The Gather is an obstacle course race. The Proclaim dives into the opposing messages of the pressure to wear masks so as to appear “normal” or “good” versus living authentically as a child of God. During the Break, the youth play a game and discuss false masks that they wear in their own lives. The Send is a powerful witness skit by the Core Members illustrating what happens as we shed our masks and freely live out the authentic version of ourselves as Christ intended.

Goal of This Night

The goal of this session is for the youth to explore the conflict between a desire to put on masks to fit in and Christ’s call to live authentically.
