Revealing Truth An Edge Issue Night on Pornography About this Issue Night This Edge Night begins with a Gather game where the youth are asked trivia questions about the biggest influencers in pop culture. The Proclaim discusses how greatly we are influenced by media and how the ease of technology has led to an increase in pornography. The teaching will also cover what pornography is, why it is harmful, and what the youth should do if they have seen it. The Break gives the youth a short time of discussion, as well as an opportunity to use a Scripture verse to reflect on what true love really looks like. The Send provides the youth with two powerful prayers to help them in times of temptation, the Memorare and the St. Michael the Archangel Prayer. Goal of This Night The goal of this Edge Night is to help the youth understand what pornography is, why it is harmful, and what they should do if they have seen it. Catechism # 2196 # 2332 # 2354 # 2360 - 2363 # 2523 Scripture 1 Corinthians 13:4 -7 Key Concepts We are greatly influenced by the world around us, especially through media. While there are good influences, there are also equally bad ones — and one of the most destructive is pornography. Pornography is a distortion of sexuality that is destructive and harmful on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level for both the people who are involved in creating it and those who view it. If you have come across pornography on accident, out of curiosity, or are continually watching it, you must tell a trusted adult and receive the help you need to rid it from your life — this is the best thing you can do for yourself and your future.
