Restless Heart An Edge Issue Night on St. Augustine The Edge Night begins with a Gather game where the youth get to snack on M&Ms and get to know one another. The Proclaim gives a short synopsis of the life of St. Augustine as well as the lessons we can learn from him. During the Break the youth have an opportunity to discuss the teaching as well as to reflect on what their hearts are seeking. The Send is Eucharistic Adoration and the Edge Night ends with a prayer for the intercession of St. Augustine. Goal of This Night The goal of this Edge Night is for the youth to come to a greater understanding of the power of Christ to convert hearts particularly through the story of St. Augustine. Catechism # 27 # 946 - 948 Scripture John 10:10 Key Concepts – Because of the incredible witness of his life and all he did to contribute to the Church not only was Augustine canonized a saint but he was also declared a Doctor of the Church (which means he had particular importance in promoting and illuminating teachings of the Church). – Before his conversion St. Augustine lived a life that might seem very familiar to some of us. Even though he lived a long time ago – he struggled with a lot of things people in our culture struggle with, our peers struggle with, or even we may struggle with. – Augustine’s life is a great witness, and we can learn from his life and see that the things of this world will never satisfy us in the way that Jesus can.
