Enough An Edge Night on the Tenth Commandment About this Edge Night The Edge Night begins with a Gather game where the youth have to write down what they would constitute as a “dream life.” The Proclaim teaches the youth about having the right attitude toward material goods and how they are called to love God above all else. The Break illuminates the material items the youth are most attached to and gives them an opportunity to discuss this reality. The Send is a time of prayer where the youth ask for the grace to let go of their attachment to their possessions. Goal of This Night The goal of this Edge Night is for the youth to understand that the tenth commandment calls them to have the right attitude toward their possessions. It will also teach them that they are called to put all of their hope and worth in God alone, not material objects. Catechism # 2535 - 2550 Scripture Matthew 6:19 -21 Matthew 6:24 -34 Luke 12:15 Hebrews 13:5 1 John 2:16 1 Timothy 6:1 Key Concepts It is not bad to want what other people have, so long as this desire does not drive us to act in a sinful way. The tenth commandment warns us of the desire for earthly things, especially when it leads us to greed, passion for riches or power, and envy. Jesus calls us to love Him above all else and to be detached from all earthly riches. This is not easy, but God’s grace helps us turn from the things of the world to the one who will truly fill our hearts. End of Free Preview Thanks for reviewing this Edge Night!
