Sneak Preview – Summit

A thriving and healthy youth ministry often includes many components, but there are three that are common among any parish youth group forming disciples.

  • A Eucharistic-centered ministry anchored in the Sunday liturgy
  • Large group catechesis and evangelization through weekly gatherings, retreats, and large-scale events
  • Small discipleship groups that meet regularly to help teens go deeper in their faith and relationship with Christ

At Life Teen, we believe that these three components are critical to a healthy youth ministry. At the center, there is and always will be the Eucharistic celebration of Mass. Flowing from Mass, teenagers meet in a large group. This environment provides opportunities for community, for evangelization, and for the integration and welcome of new teenagers. Out of this large group, small groups form that help teenagers walk in their relationship with Jesus as disciples with a group of their peers.

A small group is a vital part of the larger framework of youth ministry, but it still needs to point back to something greater. We can think of no greater thing than the Mass.

We are excited to share our newest resource, Summit; a lectionary-based discipleship group. Summit is a resource unlike anything we’ve published. Each week, small groups of teenagers meet to dive into the Sunday readings and examine key themes and reflections, then discuss how God is speaking to them through His Word.

Summit is a small group resource that can easily be adapted to fit the needs of your teenagers. A group of teens that are just learning about Christ can participate in Summit groups at a depth that will help them hear and understand the Gospel. Teenagers that are further along in their faith can approach a greater depth of contemplation and discussion. Each week has a video reflection to help the conversation from one of our Life Teen staff members or one of the many great voices in Catholic youth ministry, today.

In each Life Support box, subscribing parishes receive a Summit guide with small group sessions for the upcoming Sundays that contain relevant cultural connections alongside the timeless Word of God.

We are excited to share this sample of Summit that contains sessions that begin on the 27th Sunday of Ordinary Time and runs through the Solemnity of Christ the King. Anyone can download and preview this resource – even if you are not subscribed to Life Support.

Also here’s a preview of the tone of our video content. You can find that video here.
