Why I Did It: Jessica Huff, Texas A&M

Jessica Huff

Then: Covecrest 2010 Session 1.

Now: I am currently studying abroad in England for the year, trying to be missionary and to love everyone where they are at! It’s so beautiful that I spent the summer at Covecrest learning how to be missionary right before coming to England, where so many people are hungering to know Christ.

Was it worth it? Would you do it again? YES! It was definitely worth it! I would definitely do it again if that is where Christ wants to call me. I think this summer, Christ is calling me elsewhere (especially after a full year abroad), but I am still praying and discerning. God willing, yes!

Do you keep in touch? Yes as much as being abroad allows it. I Skype and Facebook people when possible — time changes make it very difficult, but at least we are united in prayer!

Why should a college student become a summer missionary at a Life Teen camp? Summer staff is definitely amongst the craziest six weeks of your life but also amongst the most fruitful. It allows you to grow in so many ways. As a college student, you have the opportunity to learn, love, and grow in community with other individuals also seeking a closer relationship with Jesus. You get to have Mass and adoration everyday! Christ just overwhelms you in so many ways with His love through the sacraments and the wonderful community. It is such an opportunity to grow while loving so many campers. It’s great because you can really focus on becoming holy and bringing others to holiness. If you really want to grow in your faith, lead others to Christ (and learn what it means to be missionary), meet an amazing family who will lift you up in prayer, be challenged everyday, get messy, and have the time of your life, summer staff is the perfect way to do that!
