Check out our series on different types of unhealthy friendships.
I wanted to write to you and tell you how thankful I am for our friendship! I love the times we spend together, especially when we can just talk and share what’s going on.
And since I feel like I can tell you anything, I want to tell you something that’s been bothering me. Whenever we’re around guys I feel like you’re always picking someone different to flirt with.
I’m not really sure why you do that because even when you don’t people like you a lot and it’s not like you have to flirt to be noticed. Having attention from guys is great, yeah, I get that … but I really believe that you don’t need a guy’s attention in order to know that you are a great person.
I know you feel bad about some of the bigger things that flirting has led too. And I’m so sorry that’s happened. But, it’s like … when you flirt and are so physically forward with guys … you give them permission to use you.
Here’s the thing. I think you are so much fun to be around. You have this amazing heart and I wish you knew how much you had to offer because you don’t need these guys (who just end up using you) to prove that you’re enough.
You deserve a guy who will like you for who you are and not use you. I know God has this awesome, mind-blowing, amazing plan for your life! Just hold out for it!
I hope me saying this doesn’t change anything in our friendship, and maybe we could talk about it more if you want.
I hope you’re not upset with me for telling you this! It just makes me hurt to see you get used again and again by guys – but you keep letting them do that.
-Your Balanced and caring friend

Questions for You:
- Do you feel like you need attention from a boy in order to know you’re good enough?
- Do you encourage your friends to throw all their energy into flirting for attention?
- Do you know that you are always being loved by God and that he has a plan for your future?
