How do you react when things get hard? Are you willing to move forward and trust in God? We face this question almost daily and this Sunday the readings give us hope for those hard times.
“You are not the sum of your sins, you are the sum of the Father’s love.” Pope John Paul II said this and the readings reflect it this week. When we give ourselves over to God, He will use us to do great things because He sees the potential in us when all we see is the brokenness.
We need Jesus.
Whether we like to admit it or not, we’re not capable of anything on our own. God wants to be there for us every day – to be our daily bread. This week as we celebrate our independence as a country, let’s also celebrate our dependence as Christians on the King of Kings.

Are you letting the Holy Spirit move you? Because when He does you better buckle up for the ride! The Spirit never moves us backwards, only forwards toward God, grace, and virtue. He sends out on mission to tell the world about God, and more importantly, to show God to the world.
“You can’t pick and choose the people you love . . . especially if they’re in your family.” But besides our families, we are called to love everyone as Christ loved us. How did He love us? He sacrificed His life. That means love can’t be all about warm fuzzies; it’s about self-sacrifice.
