Camp New England 2011, Week 2 (Life Teen), Day 4

On day four of their epic adventure, the teens were split into guys and girls again and had separate sessions on being Men and Women of God. After session, the teens travelled to the Fatima Shrine for a rosary walk and mass. The afternoon was casual, playing ultimate frisbee, capture the flag, and the much anticipated MESSY GAMES! That night there was a session on Epic Prayer, where the teens were given time to journal, and then spent an hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament.

Camp Tepeyac 2011, Week 04 (Life Teen), Day 02

It was a crazy, messy, and fun day at Camp Tepeyac! The Life Teen campers started the morning off with guys and girls sessions, beginning to dive into their identities as men and women, created in the image and likeness of God. They ventured from there to different parts of the camp for organized free time. Next were messy games with plenty of paint, “yuck”, and water. After, the campers dove into lectio divina with today’s Gospel, praying through Peter stepping out of the boat. The teens were invited to contemplate the Holy Spirit in their lives, thanks to worship led by Mikey Needleman and a talk by host Lisa Garcia. The chaperones were prayed over by the summer staff, and in turn prayed over their teens. They were graced at the end to celebrate God’s love with an EPIC dance party.

Camp Covecrest 2011, Week 09 (Life Teen), Day 2

Day two at Covecrest was a fun-filled day. Teens started the day with Mass after some organized free time, celebrated by Fr. Joe Fitzgerald. After Mass it was time to get messy! Parishes spent the afternoon participating in messy games which included throwing water balloons, pouring oatmeal on each other and diving into the mud pit! Campers cleaned off to head to an evening session led by Randy Raus, this week’s host, on “Epic Rescue.” Following the session was a chance for everyone to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Camp Tepeyac 2011, Week 03 (Edge), Day 02

Camp Tepeyac enjoyed some cooler weather and a lot of fun and mess on day two of the second Edge week of camp. The day started off with a bang thanks to praise and worship led by Gabe Reyes and a bible study sparked by host Joe Chernowski on the parable of the Prodigal Son. Organized free time, including a hike to the Lookout, was next. Afterwards, everyone was excited to get covered in paint, water, and “yuck” during messy games. The evening presented a skit and a witness from one of the summer staffers, leading into a session and reconciliation. It was certainly a grace-filled and exciting day!

Camp Covecrest 2011, Week 08 (Life Teen), Day 2

Campers at Covecrest spent day two getting messy! The afternoon was filled with messy games complete with water slides, oatmeal and mud! After all the messy games, teens cleaned off for an evening session. Br. Paul Kostka, this week’s host, gave a talk on Reconciliation with Joseph Summers leading praise and worship. The evening concluded with a chance for campers to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Camp Covecrest 2011, Week 07 (Life Teen), Day 2

Day two at Covecrest began and the teens wasted no time getting messy! They spent the morning in organized free time and then it was time for messy games! Teens enjoyed the water slide, jumping in mud pools and pouring oatmeal on each other. Messy games concluded with the infamous mud pit! After a fun-filled afternoon of oatmeal and mud, Matt Smith, this week’s host, kicked off a session on Reconciliation with Ben Walther leading praise and worship. Everyone was then able to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Camp New England 2011, Week 1 (Edge), Day 2

On the second day of camp, the teens jumped right into session with Katie Dunne. They were lead in praise and worship, and then dove into scripture. They were then allowed some organized free time where they could pick from a number of different sports to play. In the afternoon, teens took part in the well awaited MESSY GAMES! The teens then had to clean up and get ready for Mass. They were each given a bow so they could dress up for their Father. During the night session, the teens talked about Reconciliation, and were given a chance to go to Confession. They finished off the night with a bonfire and a No Sin Party!

Camp Tepeyac, Week 02 (Life Teen), Day 2

Camp Tepeyac and the Life Teen campers didn’t let the rain keep them down today. The morning started off strong with guys and girls session and some quality time with the campers’ sisters and brothers. Organized free time, including a hike to the Lookout, followed. Next, the campers got up to their necks in paint, water, and “yuck” during messy games. Later that night, worship leader Francis Cabildo teamed up with hosts Tricia Tembreull and Richard Rivera to bring mass, beautiful worship, and a talk on reconciliation. Finally, campers got to experience God’s mercy and grace first hand during an adoration and reconciliation session.

Camp Tepeyac 2011, Week 01 (Edge), Day 02

The campers played hard and prayed hard on day two of Camp Tepeyac’s first Edge week! The morning started out with a bible study led by host Brian Kelsch, followed by organized free time. Next up were the weekly messy games, with plenty of paint and water flying around. Worship leader Grae McCullough led music for mass at the outdoor amphitheatre before dinner and a beautiful reconciliation service. Afterwards, we celebrated God’s mercy with a bonfire!

Camp Covecrest 2011, Week 06 (Life Teen), Day 2

Campers kicked off day two of “Epic Adventures” with some messy games! Teens enjoyed the water slide, a nice messy game of Drip Drip Drop and diving into the mud pit! After spending the afternoon getting messy, teens gathered for a session on receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This week’s host, Joe Farris, started the session with a talk followed by a chance for campers to go to Reconciliation.

Campers started day two of “Xtreme Adventures” with some free time in the morning to play games and hang out in the Art Barn for some arts and crafts. They were also able to hang out with Greg Boudreaux, this week’s musician, for a jam session. After some free time, it was time to get messy! Campers enjoyed sliding down the mud slide and pouring oatmeal on each other during messy games. Everyone then cleaned off to gather for a session on Reconciliation. Campers were then able to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Campers began day two at Covecrest with some organized free time where they were able to play games, tie dye shirts at the Art Barn and jam with this week’s musician, Michael Paul Leon. Then it was time to get messy! The afternoon was filled with water balloons, mud, slides and more mud! In the evening, this week’s host, Jimmy Mitchell started the session with a talk about reconciliation. The campers were then able to receive the sacrament of reconciliation and spend some time in prayer.

Camp Covecrest kicked off day two of “Epic Adventures” with some messy games! Teens enjoyed some friendly competition with water balloons, slides and mud! After wrestling in the mud pit, campers cleaned up to celebrate Mass with Fr. Chris Dunlap. Campers continued their “epic adventure” by diving into the sacrament of reconciliation. They also had a chance to reflect and journal.

Camp Covecrest 2011, Week 02 (Life Teen), Day 02

Teens started the second day of “Epic Adventures” with messy games! They got to slide down a giant mud slide, pour oatmeal on each other and hang out by the waterfall. After lunch, teens enjoyed some free time and then headed to Mass, celebrated by Fr. Paul Salemi. In the evening, the teens were able to go to reconciliation, pray in the chapel and journal.

Camp Covecrest 2011, Week 01 (Edge), Day 02

Campers started day two of “Xtreme Adventures” celebrating Mass with Fr. José Robles-Sanchez, Fr. Paul Salemi and Fr. Bill Hao. Music for mass was led by Jackie Francois and Greg Boudreaux. The rest of the day was spent enjoying the sun. Campers played Gaga, soccer, made arts and crafts in the Art Barn and made tie-dye shirts. Then it was time to get messy! Edge students poured slime on each other, flew down a mud slide and dove into the mud pit to finish off the messy games.

2010 Camp New England, Week 17 (Life Teen), Day 5

Teens started the last full day of camp with praise and worship led by Chris Taucar and a walking rosary in their small groups. Kickball warmed the teens up for the afternoon which brought messy games consisting of paint, oatmeal and flour, water, and sleeping bags. A soap soaked slip and slide attempted to clean everyone off but was not successful. The whole messy group jumped in the lake and showered afterwards. Once they were all clean, the night session began beholding the mystery of prayer starting with Mass and followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The sacraments were celebrated by parish priest from St. Agnes, Fr. Tom Albrechg. Host Joe Chernowski led the teens deep into the session inspiring them to go to Jesus for everything.

2010 Camp Covecrest, Week 08 (Life Teen), Day 5

On Day 5 of Life Teen camp at Covecrest, campers enjoyed a session, small group time and then free time in the morning. In the afternoon, it was nothing but messy games. Campers got oatmeal mixtures poured in their faces, water dumped on their heads and mud all over in the mud pit, the grand finale of messy games day. Host Michael “Gomer” Gormley closed up the evening with a powerful session, followed by a time of Eucharistic Adoration with music led by MIkey Needleman. 2010 Camp Tepeyac, Week 12 (Edge), Day 5

Day 5 at Camp Tepeyac is the last full day for EDGE campers. Students participated in final group Bible studies and relaxed some in organized free time before the big afternoon session they had been waiting for all week: the messy games! Parishes decorated themselves in paint and charge the field to take turns getting messy at different game stations. After clean up, the campers participated in Mass and an evening of Adoration.

2010 Camp New England, Week 16 (Edge), Day 5

Day five of “Behold the Mystery” summer camp began and ended in similar manner: with prayer, scripture and Jesus. In the morning, middle schoolers prayed a rosary before they played kickball and messy games. The large group of campers was split into two groups for both kickball and the rotating stations of messy games which included paint dodgeball, Drip. Drip. Drop., an oatmeal and flour mess, slip and slide, a wet sleeping bag relay race and a paint twister game. Afterwards, the campers jumped in the lake to rinse off before showering. Once they were clean, Mass was celebrated by Father Tom Washburn, OFM with music led by John Hopke. The night session was centered on prayer and Jesus as summer staffers prayed over chaperones and chaperones prayed over teens which led into Adoration. Host Kevin Hickey did his best in leading the middle schoolers into faith and fun.

2010 Camp Covecrest, Week 07 (Life Teen), Day 5

The final full day of week 7 camp at Covecrest was packed with organized free time in the morning, and then messy games and time in the mud pit in the afternoon. After campers got cleaned up at the waterfall and then took showers, Fr. Joe Pellegrino celebrated Mass. The evening session was a time of prayer and praise, concluded with a time of Eucharistic Adoration. “Behold the Mystery” was the week’s theme, with host Jimmy Mitchell and musicians of the group Marian Grace.
