What Memories Will You Make at Prom and Graduation?

2012-05_LT-PromGraduation

In choosing what you do to commemorate these final days of school, whether after graduation, prom or band practice, at the forefront of our mind and hearts should be this reality that all is a gift from God, to be used for His glory. This doesn’t require walking around yelling, “hallelujah,” but it demands that our actions be a reflection of who we belong to. We are not our own.

Community Matters

2012-04_LT-Community

Although there may be times when we face loneliness, whether by choice or by circumstance, as Catholics we’re not asked to walk every aspect of our faith journey alone. This can be difficult for those of us who don’t have support at home or for someone like me who likes to do a lot of things by himself. I’ve discovered though, that as I strive for heaven everyday I need as much help as I can get. Friendship and Conversion: Just Jesus and Me

It was a Saturday night and I was completely alone. I had cash in my pocket and gas in my truck but I had no friends … anymore. The phone was not ringing. The silence was a deafening reminder to how “sad” my social life had become in a very short amount of time. This had never happened to me in my previous three years of high school. My senior year was supposed to be epic! Instead it was growing increasingly lonely and there was only one person to blame: Jesus.

To My Friend Laura

I don’t have a ton of friends. I never have. I’m the kind person who only needs a few friends whom I can share my heart with. For me, these few friends are some of the most important people in my life. As I was praying about few ways I can offer a few words of wisdom on the topic of friendship, one of the first ideas that came to mind was to simply honor one of my very good friends. Dealing with the Fear of Rejection, a Teenager's Guide

Over the summer, I met a lot of teenagers that like the idea of being 100% Catholic, but they are afraid that people will make fun of them for “being into God.” They told me that it’s easy to be a good Catholic at church or with their youth group, but once they get in their high school hallways, it’s too hard to be different. They don’t want to be mocked or criticized. Last week I talked about how to deal with this through prayer, but this week I want to go deeper about this fear of being rejected because of your Catholic faith. So let’s talk about this statement: “They’ll make fun of me.” Is this fear of rejection valid?
