Are you willing to be crucified with Me?

A couple of days ago I was praying about Jesus’ crucifixion. While picturing the scene, I all of a sudden realized that Jesus had to open His hands in order to be crucified. I mean: there’s no way they could have nailed His hands to the cross if they weren’t open. Jesus opened His hands to be crucified for me – He was willing to die for me! Adjusting to Life in Haiti

It’s day 12 of Mission Haiti, and I’m running out of clean underwear. It’s ok though because we’re leaving to go home now, right? Nope, we bought one-way tickets to come here! Eleven days is probably the longest I’ve ever been on a foreign mission. I usually don’t have to worry about keeping clothes clean and making shampoo and toothpaste last because I usually leave after a week or so and just leave everything as donations. Beaten and Tortured

From now on, when I hear about Jesus’ death, whether it’s someone talking about it, during mass, or while reading scripture, I want to pause and really reflect on what that means for me. I want to take it more seriously, to be moved with pity for those who took part in crucifying Jesus, and to realize how much I am loved. Jesus would have done what He did if you and I were the only people on earth. He even did it for those who killed Him!
