Celebrate Easter!

Easter day seemed a little more special for me this year. I’m not entirely sure why, but I think it’s mostly because of the ways that I’ve drawn closer to the Lord this year as a missionary, especially in prayer. It hasn’t been the easiest year of my life, but it has been incredibly blessed! Journeying with Jesus in prayer and in Scripture has brought me to a place where I feel closer to Him than I ever have before, so there was so much to celebrate as we remembered Christ’s resurrection on Easter!

Victim or Victor?

Happy Easter, or as we would say it in Dutch: Zalig Pasen! I was in Colorado this Easter and went to mass in a town called Breckenridge. The priest had an awesome homily! He talked about being a victim or a victor in life. As a victor, you claim your own life. You do what God asks you to do, you choose to be happy during the day. An Empty Church

This Holy Week was the first one I had ever fully participated in. I had pretty much no idea what to expect. When I walked into Mass on Holy Thursday, I was walking in blindly. The Mass was so beautiful! At the end, however, I was very confused as to why the church was being emptied of all decoration, why the candles were being taken away, and why the Tabernacle was being emptied and left open.
