These Boots Weren’t Made for Walking!

Before you read any further, you have to know something about me. In the past four years, I have fallen in love with boots. I generally don’t like shoes but I would wear boots all day, everyday. They are just confortable, and easy to wear and they match almost anything! In fact, within two weeks of moving to Covecrest, I treated myself to a new pair of beautiful brown boots! By now you are probably thinking, what the heck does this have to do with Jesus? I promise it relates. Let me explain: Every

Prayers of Insanity?

What’s insane? Missionaries. For the past month some of the male missionaries at Covecrest have been getting up early and working out with a program called Insanity. Now, when I say early I mean 5 in the morning. For a guy straight from the west coast who was used to getting home at that time, that in itself was insane.  5 in the morning everyday hearing Shaun T talk about digging deeper and not quitting. I’d be in that room working my butt off with a few other guys jumping and running around

In the Hands of the Potter

Our new formation year at Covecrest has begun, and after a month, I am realizing that the Heavenly Father wants to rock my world this year. As I have been journeying with the new missionary women, I am realizing how much God is trying to speak truth into my life as well. I am challenged by the ways that they are open and sometimes even more when I see a little resistance, recognizing that I too have put up some walls of resistance, not allowing the Lord to be in complete control of my life. I

Had a Bad Day?

Ever had a bad day? One of those days when you can’t seem to do anything right? A day when you make mistake after mistake? Well, I have had a bunch of those recently… I became an official Life Teen Missionary a little over two weeks ago (when I wrote this blog) and so far, the adjustment has been quite a struggle. After almost three months of waking up pretty much whenever I wanted, I have had to wake up before seven o’clock for holy hour and morning prayer. And I am not a morning person. Then,

Rebellious Against Love

So recently I tore my achilles.  No, it wasn’t leaping from tall buildings or skydiving or bull riding, God is so much more creative.  I tore it playing kickball.  Yes, kickball.  One may ask the question, ‘How does a person tear their achilles playing kickball?’. Well, I must say in self-defense, this wasn’t any ordinary game of kickball, there were four year olds. So you can imagine the intensity level.  The Lord in His humor is finding more and more unique ways to humble me.  If

God Chose YOU

The first week of our mission year at Covecrest began with a very blessed time spent diving into God’s love for us. Have you ever thought about the fact that God CHOSE to create you? I’ve heard a lot about God creating Adam and Eve – creating men and women in His image, but I don’t think I had ever thought about it in a personal, individual way until a few weeks ago. God didn’t have to create me. He didn’t need me, but He wanted me. God chose to create me. He chose every single detail of

THIRST FOR CHANGE

WATER2

As the Global Life Night, THIRST FOR CHANGE, is on-going it got me thinking about how amazing it is that just about everywhere we go in America, in every public place, we have FREE drinkable water available to us. Whether it is out of a faucet or a drinking fountain, the fact of the matter is we can drink it if we were thirsty and we never really have to worry about getting sick.  Not only that, but we have a variety of other beverages at our fingertips, the difference though is that the other beverages

Life Teen Ghana Mission 2010

Our Life Teen Mission trip back to Ghana this year was incredibly blessed. We took 12 missionaries, 3 of which were with Family Missions Company. The greatest blessing this year for me was seeing all the people we built relationships with last year, and having the opportunity to go deeper with them, from all the young adults we worked with, to the people and the children in the village, to Rose Mary and all the children that lived around the house where we stayed.
