The Great Egg White Scare!

Hello everyone! I am going to invite you a bit deeper into the workings of my daily life. I am going to take you on an excursion of what it is like to live in the life of Pam. First things first, God is number one in my life and He is doing amazing things. This past Sunday, I experienced my first Mass in Germany. Even though the Church was not very full, the power of the Holy Spirit was moving swiftly and He put a new excitement in my heart to be here. I could also tell that there are many people

Divine Appointments: Instant Oatmeal or Milk?

It was an early morning…the hotel room was still darkened by the heavy curtains, I prayed morning prayer, went downstairs, and started to prepare Apple Cinnamon Instant Oatmeal for breakfast. I poured the dry oats into a styrofoam bowl. As I was drenching them with hot water, a man from Guatemala came up to me and asked what the difference was between the canisters labeled “skim milk” and “2% milk.” Normally, I would have been quick to judge anyone who didn’t know the difference between these

Europe!

“Go  therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age” ( Matthew 28: 19-20). I feel like this is a commonly heard Bible Verse, especially for missions. Due to its familiarity, I sometimes forget to fully ingest the reality of this command of the Lord.  This reality hit my heart two weeks before this

Holy Spirit + Post Office = Mass!!!

Howdy Everyone! A  few days ago, I prepared to mail a package. I put all of the items in it, put the address on it, and taped it closed. I didn’t have the ability to mail it that day, so I kept the box in my room until today.  In our community, Monday is our day of rest since we normally have a pretty heavy ministry schedule on Sundays. As I was preparing for my day, the Lord reminded me that I needed to mail the package and told me that I should leave the house as soon as possible. So, I did…I

God’s Intimacy

This past week, the Lord has invited me to enter into a deeper union of intimacy with Him.  God has been speaking to my heart about His true presence in our daily lives. God is not some figure that is hidden in the clouds. God is here. God is present with us everywhere we are and especially in the sacraments. Our God is a God of love. He chooses to allow us to enter into very deep levels of intimacy with Him. Recently, I have been pondering the Sacrament of Holy Communion. In this Sacrament, Jesus

Living in Freedom

My college years were anything but pleasant. I often felt like I was on a  journey leading into a dark tunnel of despair. Thankfully, I was able to graduate early last year. When I left campus, I thought that the struggles I had over the past three years would leave my life;  I believed the lie that I could just leave my problems and begin to live in freedom.  I was wrong. The Lord had so much work to do in my very broken self. I thought that I could just forget the hurt that happened

I just want to be in Your arms.

For the past few weeks, my soul has experienced much spiritual dryness. Paying attention during Mass and Holy Hour seemed to be an endless battle. I had to intentionally force my mind and heart to try to stay attentive to the Lord. I had to keep begging the Lord for the grace to be able to stay focused. Let’s just say, I was incredibly frustrated and felt like I was failing as a Catholic and as a missionary. When I would attend Holy Hour, I would just sit before the Lord, look at Him and feel

I am here to help YOU…

Divine appointment  3 in Seattle: On my last night in Seattle, my friend began feeling poorly and I offered to go to the store to pick up some necessary items for her. I figured that I had been there for a few days and thought I had a good grounding on the roads there. It was evening and time for me to pray the Liturgy of the Hours. I was a bit unsettled about leaving, but the Lord was putting it in my heart that the journey I was about to have was going to be my evening prayer. I have learned

I just want a place to stay…

Divine appointment number 2 in Seattle: On the first day I arrived, my friend and I were walking and past a homeless man who was standing on the street corner outside of a grocery store. Immediately, my heart was drawn to him yet I fell into temptation and only spoke to him for a minute without even offering to pray with him. His image stayed in my heart for the next few days and my friend and I knew that we had to go back and visit him. Thus, we searched him out and bought him a meal. My friend
