Let’s face it, I am a big pansy. I am afraid of everything. I don’t like rollercoasters, I don’t like scary movies, and my biggest fear is skunks. Of all things! I’m a big chicken. So reading Scripture today I was struck by Psalm 27 where it said, “The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?”
Being such a baby, how was I not too scared when God led me to be a missionary? Well, the truth is, I WAS pretty scared. I had two jobs, a car, friends… It was intimidating thinking about leaving all that. I had never been in Life Teen at home and I’d only been to Covecrest (where the missionaries live) twice so I barely knew anyone. This was going to be a huge step for me, but I really felt in my heart that it was where I was supposed to be so I put my trust in God.
Somehow I knew that no matter how scared I was, the Lord wouldn’t call me to something that wasn’t good. As a big scaredy-cat, I know that this confidence couldn’t have come from me. I would never have been able to leave my home and my family if it weren’t for God giving me the strength.
When God invites you into a deeper relationship with Him, don’t hold back! He will give you the courage to overcome all fear.
“Be not afraid!” (John Paul II)

Wow, great sharing!
Courage is not a lack of fear, but responding whether you fear or not. You show great courage and set a wonderful example.
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something is more important than fear. The brave may not live forever, but the cautious do not live at all.
