Friday night, we began our journey to Europe! It has been quite the adventure, too! Through witnessing opportunities in Starbucks in Atlanta, waking up to some crazy turbulence halfway over the Atlantic Ocean, and realizing that the business class passengers really do have it the best (materially) of anyone on the plane, God revealed so much to me about the power of Jesus’ Love.
I don’t sleep well when I travel, unless I have a large space to sprawl out. So riding in economy class for eight hours next to two people I had never met before in my life was an interesting adventure for me. Fortunately, I did get about two hours of sleep. When I woke up, I opened the sunshade to see if the sun had risen yet. At that moment, the sun had just begun to rise over the clouds. The array of oranges and pinks that reflected off of the clouds was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.
Then I realized that we were still over the ocean, and I was really sad that I couldn’t see the incredible amount of blue water underneath me. The clouds were blocking the sunlight from getting to the ocean, and it dawned on me that this picture was an image for many people in the world who struggle with feeling God’s love. All of the junk in their life is like the clouds; it is so thick that the Son doesn’t appear to shine through to them.
But that is not the case at all! Soon after I woke up, we began to fly over Ireland. And I have to say, it was an amazing sight! The beaches were so clear, the mountains began almost right at the shore, and everything was so green! The sun had helped form this beautiful landscape, and God spoke measures to me through it. The clouds had cleared, and the sun was shining through, revealing all of the glorious beauty Ireland had to offer me.
I thank God for placing me in that window seat, because if I had been anywhere else on the plane, I would have missed all of that!
So ask yourself: What are the clouds in my life? What can I do to get my daily dose of “Son Shine”?
