Little things with Great Love, Lessons from Saint Therese of Lisieux!

A few days ago, a group of missionaries began to paint certain parts of the Little Way Primary School building here at camp. I arrived to paint and was asked to help paint the addition that was added on the back part of the building. In the midst of painting, I realized that unless someone was to walk behind the school, which faces the woods, no one would really ever see what we had accomplished.

Normally at this point, I would begin to do the job half way and not really care what the results were; however, I actually became excited to do the job as well as I could for the mere fact that the only one who may notice would be our Lord. It brought joy to my heart and really helped me to understand the simple way of life Saint Therese of Lisieux.  She offered little sacrifices to God that no one ever saw. I began to put a great amount of effort into painting because I was no longer doing it for anyone else except to please Christ.

Over the past week or so, this mentality has really begun to work its way into all that I do throughout the day. In moments that I am serving food, taking out the trash, or sweeping the chapel I find myself rejoicing because it is all out of love for our Lord. I hope that I can continue to live into this new way of life. It is such a joy and I look forward to serving many of you with the same zeal as you join us here throughout the year.  Be little.
