In the first week of our mission year, we spent some time separate as brothers and sisters. The boys went hiking and camping and the girls were very blessed by spending some time at a lake house on Lake Burton. While I cannot speak for the boys, the girls had an awesome experience diving into the heart of sisterhood. We had a beautiful mass on the dock where the Word of God was fully alive. The first reading was from Saint Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians. He stated, “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me has not been ineffective…” This spoke measures to me! I filled up almost a complete page in my journal (I have very big journal pages) about how God loves me just as I am. In all of my flaws and imperfections, He chose ME for this mission for a specific purpose. He is such an awesome God!
He wants us all to know that He has a plan and each of us have a Divine Purpose in this world. Take St. Paul for example. He persecuted Christians for the longest time, and then Jesus came and changed his life in about 2.5 seconds. From that point on, he preached and proclaimed the Gospel for all to hear. In the same letter to the Corinthians, he says he is the least of the disciples, and he has toiled more than all them, but they were all chosen to glorify God and adds, “whether it be I or they, so we preach and so you believed.”
God wants YOU to be His disciple. He wants YOU to speak His Word to the nations. He wants YOU to be the difference in the world. And only YOU can complete the task God has set out for you. Be open to God’s Will! It will be the best thing EVER!
