Knowing The Good Shepherd

Okay, I have T minus 24 minutes to write this blog because at the end of that time, Melanie, Danielle, and I are leaving for our 8-day Silent Retreat! We are all stoked to have this time to rest and to simply be with God. I wanted to put up a blog the other day letting you know what I’ve been praying about, but I just couldn’t get my ideas from my brain to the paper. It just wasn’t coming. So, I’m thinking that I’ll give you a little intro and then hopefully after the retreat I’ll be better able to tell you what’s on my heart! Lately I’ve been praying about knowing Jesus, particularly recognizing his voice.

“The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” (see John 10:3-5).

Unfortunately, I know that I can’t always distinguish Jesus’ voice from all the other voices buzzing around in my head. I know that Jesus is calling me by name and leading me; he’s doing his part, so its time for me to do mine. I want to be able to pick out his voice in a second because I know him so well. So, how do I get to know Jesus better? I have to spend time with him! I have to learn from him! I have to dive into his word! Well, there’s no time like the present, and with the opportunity to still my own voice over the next 8 days, I’ll have plenty of time to listen! Thank you for your prayers! Peace and blessings be with all of you!
