Without the crucifixion we would not have the Resurrection. This year last Holy Week I spent at Covecrest celebrating Easter with my parents, who drove down from St. Louis, and about 100 other people- including missionaries their families and friends. During the week I meditated on the Passion story. Let me share with you a tiny bit.
After braking bread with the twelve disciples but before Judas betrayed Jesus and the crucifixion, Jesus knows what is going to happen to him. He gets to the Mount of Olives and goes off to pray by himself. He says,
“Father If you are willing, remove this cup from me; Nevertheless not my will but yours be done.” LK 22:42
Our savior knows what is going to happen; he doesn’t resist his mission but is asking if their is any other way.It is his complete surrender to the Father’s will which is like any other Yes that he has given thus far. The Lord sends an angel to his side to strengthen him to prepare him to endure his fate. Lord I ask that I may have the surrender to do your will as your Son did. Not just in the easy times, but in the moments of persecution and fear. I ask that you may strengthen me to endure all of the trials that you place in front of me.
My Holy Week was full of prayer and devotion to our Lord’s Crucifixion. I started to think about all that has been taking place in my heart. Then I felt like lately my heart has been awaiting an interior crucifixion with the hope of rising to new life. You may be saying to yourself, “I have No idea what he’s talking about right now.”Well … let me explain. This past year honestly has been an struggle. I feel now more than ever that I’m being called to surrender my heart to His will. This “process” of him molding my heart is going to be a painful and ugly one, but once he is done with it my heart will be pure and beautiful. It will be Ready to serve his people as he did. Lord you won’t relent until you have it all. My life is yours.
Please, if you could be praying that my YES is amplified for the Lord and hat my actions reflect the King that I serve. Also That I may pick up my cross every morning ready and willing to serve our Lord.
