Sept 20th – And so it begins…

Today is day seven of our missionary year. There are three different groups of missionaries and each group is stationed in either Arizona, Germany or Georgia. Although we will all be in different locations, we have all come together as one to journey together during our first month of formation. As I mentioned before today is day seven, but it feels like we have been here for weeks because God has already done so much in our hearts. It is amazing to see how close we’ve grown together as a team.

One of my favorite moments so far took place last night, when we came together for impromptu praise and worship/adoration. It was beautiful to hear different voices come together to praise God for who he is. It was a reminder that worship is truly a gift God gives to us. He does not need our worship, but He invites into it because He knows the grace that will pour into us.

I was surprised this week because:

I am already homesick, I love my family and I knew I would miss them but I didn’t expect it to hit me so soon.

I wanted to jump into doing missionary things, and I became so fixated on “doing” that I became frustrated. But then God revealed to me through different people that He wants to work on my heart first, to heal any and all brokenness and to be rooted in His love, totally defined by him before I can fully live out what He calls me to.

So life is good, I do not know what to expect this year but I am slowly embracing the truth that I don’t need to know – what I do need is to trust in His lead.
