For the past two days, thousands of you from around the world collaborated toward a goal of raising $10,000 in 36 hours during our Matching Gift Challenge. Many of you decided to participate, whether it be in the form of a financial gift or prayer. We were amazed to see how everyone used their own stories of how God has worked in your own life through the movement of Life Teen. Many of you were on Facebook and Twitter posting stories and asking people to donate. Our family mission at Camp Covecrest over the weekend saw new families drawn into the movement of Life Teen. And many of you stepped up and asked friends and family to give to Life Teen, too.
Our request was simple: donate $10,000 online so an anonymous donor could match it with an additional $10,000. Here is what you did…
- 80 people gave online = $11,613
- 38 people texted $10 donations = $380
- 9 people made pledges = $6,535
That comes to a whopping total of $18,528 raised ONLINE yesterday, but it didn’t stop there.
Eight other people were so inspired by the outpouring of generosity they saw from all of you, they decided to make significantly large donations, totaling $18,849.
Now add the $10,000 matching gift from the original donor and we end up with a 36 Hour GRAND TOTAL of $47,377.
Why This Matters: How Your Donation will impact the Church
Your generosity is enough to send 100 kids to camp for the first time, 50 new parishes to start up Life Teen, or helps 100 priests to attend a Life Teen event so they can see what Christ is doing in the hearts of young people. What God has done through this community in the past two days is truly amazing.
- Teens who are confused and are looking for a place to turn…YOU backed them up.
- Youth ministers who feel a need for a greater community…YOU backed them up.
- Priests who are always praying for a way to reach the youth…YOU backed them up.
- The Life Teen staff whose gifts lie more in youth ministry than raising money…YOU backed us up.
God has amazed us again, but HE IS NOT DONE YET! We have 11 more days left in our Annual Appeal and God has so much more to do. Please continue to pray the Memorare and know that the Holy Spirit moves through all of us in an effort to bring 135 people into the mission of Life Teen in only 36 hours.
Whether you were able to give to the Match Day or not, we still need your help. We have more teens to reach and more parishes to help. We are about $25,000 short of our goal of $300,000 for the Annual Appeal. Continue to pray for us and keep inviting people to give to this cause that we all believe in.
We pray that the Lord continues to bless the movement and the family of Life Teen with a passion to reach more teenagers.
