Think back to the first time that you were introduced to Jesus. Think about the room that you were in. Think about everything else you had going on in your life, and think about how somehow this moment made all of those struggles fade away. Think about the people that were with you.
No doubt this was a nerve-wracking situation for you. You are about to say “Yes” to something that is completely counter-cultural, and that means going out on a limb and making yourself vulnerable. You want to make sure that if you do this, you won’t be alone.
For me, I was at a Steubenville conference as a sophomore in high school, and when I was asked to stand up and commit myself to Jesus, I couldn’t help but take a quick peek around and make sure I wasn’t the only one standing. I knew this was a big decision, and I wanted to make sure that someone had my back.
“If I say yes to Christ, will you back me up?”
This question is so universal because everyone wants to make sure that they have the support of the people around them. For 26 years, Life Teen has said YES to backing up teenagers from around the world, and now we are asking more people to join our mission and back up the teens as well. We want teenagers to feel supported and excited to go live out their lives as Catholic-Christians in their communities.
Throughout the course of November and December, Life Teen is having our Annual Appeal where we are raising money to continue on the mission that the Holy Spirit is leading us on, leading teens closer to Christ. The theme of our Annual Appeal is “If I say Yes to Christ, will you back me up?”
Here are a few ways you can help us, and spread the word about what Life Teen is doing.
1. Pray the Memorare
We are looking for people who can commit to praying one memorare every day in these next two months. Pray for the teens around the world, and pray for the people who may be called to support them.
2. Facebook challenge
Post on the wall of your Facebook profile about your moment where you said “yes” to God and tag a couple of people that backed you up. In your post, copy the link to the Life Teen Donate site (lifeteen.com/donate) so more people can get connected and have the chance to have a similar conversion experience.
3. Give to Life Teen
You can see more about how to give financially on LifeTeen.com/Donate. Whether you are a teenager, and you can give $5, or you are blessed to be able to give more, every dollar goes to helping Life Teen reach more teens.
