I have a huge family… seriously, it’s gigantic. We could rent out a floor of a hotel if we needed one for our family reunions. Just counting my cousins alone could field an entire football team. We are a big family.
But that’s not all, because I’m also adopted. My birth-family adds new branches (and states) to the picture… a whole different side of who’s in my family.
Oh, and what about my ‘brothers’ – the guys I’ve grown up with since preschool, who have been there for me through thick and thin… guys who have had me as groomsman at their wedding and godfather for their kids? Those guys are my brothers – my family.
And, brothers and sisters, how can I forget our Catholic family? A billion strong, on every continent and in every language, a family united by Christ’s love. It has given me shelter when I was far from home, friendship when I was in foreign lands, and peace in moments of deepest turmoil. The church is truly my family.
This month on LifeTeen.com is all about family – from the people in your house to the worldwide Church. What was life like for the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph? How do you practice virtue inside your own house? What do you do if you’re the only Catholic in your family? No one’s family is quite like everyone else’s, and this month you’ll hear from people who are living out the Gospel of love in very different family situations.
With Thanksgiving closing out the month, family reunions (and awkward photos) are just around the corner. Some of you might be counting down the days; others might be dreading whom you’ll have to see. Either way, we’ve got your back. Trust us; this holiday season can be your best – and holiest – ever.
Your brother in Christ,
Greg
