As a teen, I remember boarding the bus to go to our annual March for Life pilgrimage. It was always cold and it was always really early when we left. Nonetheless, each trip was memorable. There is something powerful about seeing so many people stand for a cause. And as a youth minister, our March for Life trips were even more memorable. I remember being so proud of my teens for being passionate about protecting life.
Many of our Life Teen parishes attend the March for Life each year, and this year, for the first time, we will be joining you. We looked at how we could be part of the annual March for Life in Washington, DC and the word that immediately came to mind was prayer. Yes we will march. Yes we will be vocal. Yes we will be loving. But, more than anything we need to pray.
The night before hundreds of thousands of people march in DC, we will meet at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Rockville, Maryland for a night of prayer and worship. Our good friends, the Ike Ndolo Band, will be leading us in worship. There will be a powerful talk by a member of the Life Teen family. Plus, our Life Teen missionaries will be present to pray and give testimonies. The night will end with Jesus, in a time of Eucharistic Adoration. The host parish has been gracious enough to provide additional programming plus accommodations and meals for those groups that want to spend the night.
Our Vice President, Matt Smith, said it best:
“Because the Life Teen Movement is 100% Catholic, we are 100% pro-life. So we are thrilled to offer the Life Teen Encounter for Life event this January in DC. It’s a prayerful prelude to an extraordinary event.”
We look forward to hosting this time of prayer. Registration will open on November 1, 2012 at 10:00am. The event is limited to 600 spots, so please register early.
