Embracing Advancement: An Exciting Life Support Update

A couple of years ago, I sat in my office and watched a video that Life Teen posted of the newest Life Support box being packaged. I sat, awestruck, at the great things that were going to be coming my way. I got excited at all of the new Life Nights and retreat sessions I could plan with these incredible materials… and then I waited.

And waited.

The best technology that was available was standard package delivery, which meant that it would take several days for my Life Support box to reach the parish doorstep, possibly be misplaced by the administrative assistant, or swiped by the parish priest. In years that followed, this pattern repeated itself, until I was hired as the Life Support Coordinator for Life Teen.

I resolved to make things different – and today, technology has finally caught up with that vision.

Imagine: You see the tweet from Life Teen about the newest Life Support box being shipped, and about 30 minutes later you hear a familiar sound as the delivery arrives. You step outside your parish office to find a pristine Life Support box, freshly packaged.

A couple of years ago, it would have been crazy. Today, it is a reality.

Amazon made waves with their new drone delivery system for Amazon Prime customers. This past week, I had an exciting meeting with the company that develops these drones, SkyDeliver, and solidified a deal that would make Life Teen a “beta-test company,” for this new delivery technology.

Why Life Teen? Practically, our boxes fit the weight and size restrictions for a drone. More importantly, they believe in our mission. And it just doesn’t stop with boxes.

Like that Lent Companion you just got in the box and want to order several more, right away? Or are you having coffee with a teen and want to give them Mark Hart’s newest book about the Mass? Ordering will be easy with the newest Life Teen app, “LifeLine,” our mobile purchasing platform.

I got to experience a test run with one of our first drones, the “Ascension 1” and received our first delivery last Thursday. I thought back to that agonizing wait for the Edge or Life Support box, and smiled, “The next generation of youth ministers won’t even know what that is like,” I thought to myself.

Truly with Christ all things are possible, and with drones your Life Support box will arrive quicker than your pizza for this Sunday’s Life Night.

About the Author

I spent most of my 8th grade year in detention because there wasn’t a dare I wouldn’t accept. But in high school, my youth minister dared me to follow Christ and I haven’t looked back. I love all things Wisconsin, especially the Green Bay Packers. I can probably eat more cheese than you. (Please don’t dare me to prove it.)
