Life Support: January 2013 - Person of Christ

2013-1-LT-Box-PersonOfChrist

Curriculum Guide: Person of Christ

2012-CG-PersonofChrist-flatAs we begin this semester on the Person of Christ, we need to start with faith. A lot of times when we talk about faith, we speak of it as something we create and conjure up, rather than a gift of God. “Faith is a gift of God, a supernatural virtue infused by him” (CCC 158). Like all that is good, faith starts with God - not with us. We merely respond to what God has already given. Nevertheless, response on our part is critical. “Believing is possible only by grace and the interior helps of the Holy Spirit. But it is no less true that believing is an authentically human act” (CCC 154).

This four-session series on Lent will help your teens understand the history, beauty, and opportunity of this season. Each session looks at a different aspect of how we are called to prepare for Easter: fasting, almsgiving, and prayer. Obviously, these sessions work best within the season of Lent so that teens can apply the lessons learned and challenge themselves to go deeper during these 40 days. This Into the Deep includes the sessions:

  • Dirt-Head
  • Why So Fast?
  • Free Alms!
  • Shhh...

Life Support: September 2012 - Scripture

2012-9-LT-Box-Scripture

Curriculum Guide: Scripture

2012-CG-Scripture2Since Christ is truly God’s Word, He is at the heart of all the Scriptures, it is important to begin reading from a Christological perspective. This approach is especially beneficial to us when we read the Old Testament. The books of the Old Testament can be challenging to read and contain lengthy genealogies, statements of laws, building instructions, and traditions and customs we may not understand. They also contain graphic accounts of the effects of sin. When reading the books of the Old Testament with a Christ- centered approach, we see that the mystery hidden beneath the words of the Old Testament is Christ Himself (CCC 1094).
