Youth Minister

DESCRIPTION

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Richmond, VA, is seeking a full-time Youth Minister.

The Youth Minister will develop and implement a comprehensive ministry program for the youth (grades 6-12) of the parish community. This includes faith formation, evangelization, sacrament preparation, and community building activities. The Youth Minister will plan and implement a curriculum in consultation with the pastor. They will prepare and teach Confirmation. The Youth Minister will be responsible to recruit, train and supervise program volunteers. They will also create and facilitate leadership opportunities for a post-Confirmation Discipleship Team. The Youth Minister will promote and organize parish participation in diocesan youth events. In addition, the Youth Minister will create and schedule all social media posts, assist with maintaining Youth Ministry notices for the parish website, and participate with the staff in parish activities as needed.

A Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in Theology, Ministry, Religious Education, or a related field. Three to five years of experience in Youth Ministry, paid or volunteer, is preferred. The applicant must be a practicing Catholic in good standing, adhere to Catholic teaching, and demonstrate a commitment to the Church.

This position is full-time and exempt from the overtime/timekeeping provisions of the FLSA and will include weekend hours. Pay is commensurate with experience and in keeping with classifications and guidance from the Catholic Diocese of Richmond.

St. Mary’s is a parish of 2700 families, with approximately 75 confirmands each year. St. Mary’s was founded in 1962 to serve a growing Catholic community in our surrounding neighborhood. Our parish school was established in 1966. Our long-established ministries of Human Concerns, Parish Nurses, Haiti Outreach, and Community Life continue to serve the needs of our neighbors, near and far. Our Mission: To facilitate the growth of our Catholic faith to ensure we are able to Rejoice, Proclaim, and Serve. We Rejoice in the celebration of the Eucharist, we Proclaim the Word of God, and we Serve our neighbors in need (wherever they may live).
