All Saints Director of Senior High Youth Ministry and Catechesis is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing a program of youth ministry and religious formation using a variety of resources to meet the spiritual and catechetical needs of older adolescents (Grades 9 12) including immediate preparation for Confirmation. This person also works collaboratively with the Director of Middle School Youth Ministry and Catechesis to provide opportunities of evangelization, prayer, catechesis, and discipleship in a comprehensive youth ministry program, collaborating with other staff to guide and support the parish mission to Lead People to Christ through Liturgy, Learning, Sacraments and Service.
1. Youth Ministry Functions
a) Direct and implement programs for Senior High Students that foster a life of evangelization, prayer, catechesis, and discipleship. Areas of ministry responsibility include
• Youth Faith Development (Examples: Move, Beloved/Brotherhood, Discipleship training groups, Retreats)
• Overnight and travel Opportunities (Examples: Steubenville pilgrimage, World Youth Day, National Catholic Youth Conference)
• Faith experiences (Examples: Endurance, Archdiocesan Youth Day, Lifeline)
• Pastoral Care
b) Collaborate with MS Director to ensure that the vision and practice of youth ministry is comprehensive and reflective of parish’s vision. Areas of collaboration could include Peer Ministry, Calendaring, Discipleship training, and fundraising.
2. Catechetical Functions
a) Direct, facilitate and implement catechesis for Grades 10-12 including immediate preparation for Confirmation.
• Collaborate with MS Director to ensure seamless relationship between the 9th and 10th grade catechesis programs.
• Design and direct retreat opportunities for Confirmation candidates.
• Gather and train the Confirmation Interview Team. Provide supervision and direction to team during the interview process.
• Provide supervision, training and affirmation of all catechists and small group leaders in Senior High FEP.
b) Supervise and attend to administration of the Sacrament of Confirmation including but not limited to cooperation with the Archdiocesan Worship Office, and protocols for sacramental records.
3. Parish and Community Functions
a) Serve an example of Catholic faith to parents, youth, and catechetical leaders.
b) Emphasize the parish’s vision through programs and events recognizing the ongoing need to foster evangelization, prayer and sacraments, catechesis, and discipleship.
c) Communicate with both leaders and participants on a regular basis through a variety of communication mediums.
d) Collaborate with Parish Program Directors about sacramental preparation, curriculum, resources, and shared celebrations.
e) Attend commission and other committee meetings as needed or requested by supervisor or pastor.
f) Actively participates in parish and staff activities as appropriate.
g) Maintain and develop theological competence in keeping with Catholic teachings and ministerial practice in regard to adolescents.
• Attend workshops, classes, and seminars applicable to the ministry.
• Maintain membership in professional organizations appropriate to the position.
h) Respond pastorally and communicate pastoral issues to appropriate staff.
All Saints Catholic community is a vibrant, faith-filled community of over 3,000 households. All Saints serves the Lakeville community and will be celebrating its 140 anniversary this fall. Parishioners are actively engaged in the life of the parish, working to bring others to Christ.
