Positions Supervised: Associate Director of College Ministry, Director of Youth Outreach, Director of Missions and Service, Administrative Assistant
The Director of Benedictine College Ministry is responsible for nourishing the spiritual needs of Benedictine College students, supporting the Catholic and Benedictine pillars of the College, and overseeing the College Ministry Leadership Team. The Director must operate a Catholic ministry according to the norms set forth in the Roman Catholic Church’s Code of Canon Law, Ex Corde Ecclesiae, and other documents in addition to those established by the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. The Director must be a practicing Catholic and take the Oath of Fidelity agreeing to be faithful to teach/train the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Bachelors’ degree required. Masters of Theology/Divinity or related Masters highly preferred. A minimum of three years in college student ministry, or experience with youth in a missionary or pastoral environment required.
Develop programs, retreats, and outreach efforts to promote the spiritual and religious growth of all BC students.
Supervise the student leader staff and help schedule, plan, and implement the college ministry programs through
Direct stewardship efforts
Manage Marriage Prep for college students
Lead and manage RCIA Program
Teach regularly scheduled RCIA Seminar using American Catechetical Association materials and those consistent with the authentic teachings of the Roman Catholic Church
Plan and assist at Masses, trips, and retreats for RCIA participants
Invite and foster interest in RCIA among students and staff
Involve professors in related fields, student volunteers and sponsors in instruction
Participate in Archdiocesan training, meetings and liturgies along with college chaplains
Supervise and assist the Ministry Teams and leaders in the coordination of their various responsibilities.
Prepare and monitor the College Ministry budgets. Exercise stewardship of budgets, weekly donations and
fundraising for special projects that enhance the worship environment.
Communicate the Church’s mission to the Benedictine community.
Maintain campus chapels and other space, equipment and ministerial supplies.
Assist in evangelization efforts through spiritual and corporal works of mercy, retreats, service spring break trips, and providing speakers for College groups.
Foster norms for Catholic and Christian life in the Benedictine Community.
Develop the Benedictine charism and an appreciation for our sponsors and founders, St. Benedict and St. Scholastica.
Benedictine College is a co-educational university in Atchison, Kansas, United States, founded in 1971 by the merger of St. Benedict’s College (founded 1858) for men and Mount St. Scholastica College (founded 1923) for women. It is a Roman Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts, and residential college located on bluffs overlooking the Missouri River, northwest of Kansas City, Missouri. Benedictine is one of a number of U.S. Benedictine colleges, and is sponsored by St. Benedict’s Abbey and Mount St. Scholastica Monastery. The abbey has a current population of 53 monks, while the Mount monastery numbers 147 community members. The college has built its core values around four “pillars”—Catholic, Benedictine, Liberal Arts, Residential—which support the Benedictine College mission to educate men and women in a community of faith and scholarship.
