7 Truths You Need to Know Right Now

1. You are loved.

You are deeply loved by God. And, it’s not because of what you do, your grades, how “good” you are, the kind of car you drive, or the family you come from. He does not love you based upon your performance. There is nothing you can do to cause God to love you anymore than He already does and there is nothing that will cause God to love you any less. You are desired, you are chosen, you are loved by God. The same God that created the oceans and the mountains desired you and willed you into existence. How cool is that? God wanted you and desired your existence. “You are precious in my eyes and honored and I love you.” –Isaiah 43:4

2. You have an amazing contribution to make to this world that no one else can offer.

What does this mean? God is calling you to do something on this earth in His time that no one else can do. How awesome is that? “God created me to do Him some definite service. He has committed some work to me which he has not committed to another: I have my mission.” –St. John Henry Newman

3. You will never find true fulfillment in another person.

Every person in the world wants to know what will make him or her happy. We’re all desperately seeking for the person, place, or thing that will meet our expectations, needs, and wants. What will truly satisfy the desires of our heart? Nothing in this universe is able to produce true goodness, unless the good Creator is its source. Your way to happiness and joy only comes by having a relationship with Christ and, therefore, being able to see Him in every good person, place, and thing around you. “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” –John 6:35

4. You are worth fighting for.

When your heart breaks, when you’re all alone, when you’re sick, when you feel like your friends and family have left you – God is there. And, he says you’re worth fighting for. He will never give up on you. God will finish in you what He started in you. He will faithfully lead you and you will be strengthened as you go. Your failure won’t prevent God’s ability to work in your life, Jesus asks us to persevere, to pick up our cross and follow Him. You can have confidence in God’s words in Philippians 1:6 — “God is the one who began this good work in you, and I am certain that he won’t stop before it is complete on the day that Christ Jesus returns.”

5. You are not your past.

The fear of rejection and the trauma of past experiences can create powerful strongholds in your life. You can’t change the past, but you can grow from it. The past is there to train you, shape you, and mold you, so you can become who God wants you to be. When looking to the past, find God rather than your mistakes and the mistakes of others. “We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” -Romans 8:28

6. Don’t buy into the mediocre lifestyle.

The culture encourages a selfish attitude. Don’t sacrifice, don’t work hard, don’t suffer, do the least you can do to get by… that’s the easy route. Our faith is hard work. Relationships are too. Everything we do takes time, effort, and sacrifice. The Saints knew this sacrificial lifestyle well. There’s a line in the prayer of St. Francis that states “it is in giving that we receive.” A life of fulfillment and contentment will never be found in mediocrity and selfishness, but rather in the full and complete gift of oneself to another. “Do not be afraid. Do not be satisfied with mediocrity. Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” –St. John Paul II

7. The Devil is a liar.

He wants you to sin. He wants you to compare yourself, He wants you to give up… don’t give in. His main goal is to lie, steal, kill, and destroy. He is the tempter. He will do anything to try and lure you away from Truth and away from God. It’s important to realize that we face an active enemy every single day. We may not see it, we might forget, it’s easy to lose focus, and get distracted on things that don’t really matter. We need to know who the enemy is and recognize his tactics. He’s real, he’s deceptive, and he seeks to gain ground today in as many lives as he can. We don’t have to let him win. God’s Word reminds us, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12
