It’s Still Lent: A Necessary Reminder

I probably don’t need to remind you of this, every fast food chain flashing signs of fish sandwiches is reminder enough.

But just in case…

It is still Lent.

I would imagine this reality will either elicit two kinds of responses in you. Either you are coasting through Lent without much struggle to keep your Lenten promises, or you are wondering how in the world you are going to keep to your fasts the remainder of Lent.

No Empty Hangers: Need vs. Want

The bottom line is that “things” are not our identity and we cannot place our identity in them. Our identity comes from God. Nothing we possess on earth lasts, but what does last is our relationship God, which is for eternity. Only when we recognize this can we have a healthy relationship with “things.”

Stand Strong #prolifegeneration

An uprising. A movement. A generation who seeks justice. The words above describe a little of what I experienced this past week, but perhaps could most adequately be described by the word “revolution.” This week I encountered a true revolution — a revolution of people who know the dignity of life and choose to stand […]

Pray Like it’s 2014: Commit Yourself to Prayer this New Year

Ready or not, here it comes… It’s almost 2014.

I don’t know about you, but this year for me has been a year of challenge, change, and growth with a ton of added mercy and grace. Looking back at the challenges, I am grateful; grateful that the Lord allows me to grow when I suffer and grateful that He never stops loving me.

Welcome Home: Your Family, The Catholic Church

We come from all types of families, loud, crazy, large, small, broken. Maybe you don’t feel like you have much of a family at home, maybe you feel like your family doesn’t understand you, or maybe you are the only practicing their faith at home.

The Catholic Church is also a family; in fact the Catholic Church is one big family. We are all adopted sons and daughters of God, we all have the same God as Father (Galatians 4:6-7). Which means we are all brothers and sisters in Christ!

A Beautiful Offering: Choosing to Glorify God in Our Suffering

“Just get over it.” Sadly we hear phrases such as these from our friends in answer to our suffering. I don’t think these are the words anyone wants to hear when they are suffering, having a bad day, or feeling down. I love a lot of things about the Catholic Church, but one thing I […]

Mirror, Mirror, On the Wall… Make Me the Prettiest Girl of All

But there is one more thing. It’s the most important part. We won’t be successful in this if we don’t recognize that we are noticed by God.

A lot of our desires to be the best, and the most beautiful come from the desire to be affirmed. We have to first live in the knowledge that we have a God who loves us, cares for us and sees us as his unique daughters. Only with this knowledge can we live out healthy relationships with other women and ourselves.

Easier said than done, right? Be patient with yourself. This is something we need to remind ourselves of daily.
