Life Teen Staff Picks: Pumpkin.

Even if the climate outside isn’t playing the part, there is one thing that always puts me in a “Fall” mood – pumpkin. I’ll admit it. From now till Thanksgiving, I’m obsessed. I could blame Starbucks and their tasty Pumpkin Spice Lattes, but it goes much deeper than that.

Think about it. Is there another food that you are encouraged to gut, carve and then display on your doorstep? What other produce do people visit its “patches”? Nobody cares about overgrown cantaloupes, but a 1,810 pound pumpkin (the current world record) makes the news.

Patron Saints

What do you want to be the patron saint of? Spending too much money at Starbucks? Ace-ing Algebra? Being Awesome? Don’t laugh; it’s a valid question.

We are all called to be saints, whether or not we get the “St.” before our names in the saint books. Almost all the saints in the ‘giant book of saints’ have various (some would even say random) things they are patrons of. Many are patrons of more than one thing. So when – not if – you are named a saint, what do you want to be the patron of?

Discernment: YM or Not?
