Did You Know?: The Eucharistic Miracle of Bolsena, Italy

Lately he had been having doubts about the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Was the bread and wine really transformed into the Body and Blood of Jesus?

He said Mass at the Church of St. Christina. As Peter raised the Host and consecrated it blood started flowing out of it, onto his hands and the altar. God was telling him (and us) that yes, He is truly present in the host.

Peter was confused and tried to hide the blood.

Life Teen Staff Picks: iPieta App

It’s the perfect app for people who want to grow in knowledge of the Catholic faith or deepen their prayer life. The ability to have so much mobile Catholic goodness on your phone is mind-boggling, and gives you a great way to pass the time when you’re sitting waiting for a friend to show up, standing alone in a line … or you’re bored in a meeting (not that I’ve ever done that).

Did You Know?: The Eucharistic Miracle of Avignon

Two monks got in a boat and rowed to the Church. When they saw that the water was halfway up the main doors they feared the worst. They pushed open the doors to the church and saw that the main aisle and the altar were completely free of water. The rest of the Church was filled with four feet of water, but the altar remained dry. The Blessed Sacrament was just as they had left it. They also saw that some papers, books and cloths which had been placed under the altar were dry.

What if Jesus is Really Present in Eucharist? [Video]

What the Hallow is Going On?

Consider our current American culture. Pornography is the highest-grossing industry in America, by far, eclipsing the gross revenues of all professional sports and major television networks. The highest-grossing movies amongst American teenagers over the past several years have been “slasher” horror films, followed by sex “comedies” at a close second. Music becomes more profane and suggestive. Video games become increasingly violent and graphic. Divorce rates climb. The gay marriage debate continues to grow in intensity. Well over forty-five million babies have been legally killed since 1973.

In the face of all this insanity stands the Roman Catholic Church. Right?

Life Teen Staff Picks: Walk.

I started going on walks to exercise because an injured knee prevents me from being able to run anymore. Although I may not be burning as many calories, I have come to really appreciate walking. It is such a nice leisurely activity to unwind at the end of the day. I find that I can use it as my quiet time to think, pray or sometimes just not think at all! My parents only live about 2 miles from me, so actually twice this week I walked over to their house for dinner. In a world that is so busy and fast-paced, there is something exciting about walking to my destination, as the cars whizz by on the street beside me. It forces me to take a minute to slow down in the midst of my busy day.

Is Your Halloween Costume Sexy?

It was 1999 and I had just entered my freshmen year of high school. The first school dance of the year was quickly approaching so I had to wear the perfect outfit. My goal was to look sexy because that’s what I thought I had to do to compete with other girls and to get attention from guys. The truth is I desperately wanted guys to find me attractive because I wanted to feel beautiful.

Saint Quotes on the Eucharist: St. Francis of Assisi

“Everyday, Jesus humbles Himself just as He did when He came from His heavenly throne into the Virgin’s womb; everyday He comes to us and lets us see Him in abjection, when He descends from the bosom of the Father into the hands of the priest at the altar.” – St. Francis of Assisi

Saint Quotes on the Eucharist: St. Therese of Lisieux

“Do you realize that Jesus is there in the tabernacle expressly for you – for you alone? He burns with the desire to come into your heart … don’t listen to the demon, laugh at him, and go without fear to receive the Jesus of peace and love …

Receive Communion often, very often … there you have the sole remedy, if you want to be cured. Jesus has not put this attraction in your heart for nothing …”

- St. Therese of Lisieux
